Final draft of my soap trailer

This was my completed draft of my soap trailer before I got any audience feedback. From the feedback I recieved, my audience seemed to be a bit confused as to what narrative a person belonged to, therefore I will look into changing this to make it more clear as to who is part of what narrative. I will also enhance my editing to make the transitions more in time to the beat of the backing track.

My song choice

I have decided to use "Mt Eden Dubstep - Prodigy: Omen" as the backing track for my soap trailer. This is because I feel that the tempo is not too fast but has an eerie upbeat feel to it.

Planning my soap trailer

To make my soap trailer as realsitic as possible, I had to create a variety of narratives to include in my filming. To look into these different types of narratives I researched soaps such as Coronations Street, Eastenders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks. These soaps helped me with my ideas for narratives.

Some of these narratives included:
-Drug use
-Pregnancy
-Fights
-Smoking
-Relationships

I feel that these 5 narratives will be the main back story behind my soap trailer. My soap will be based in a school and I therefore believe that these storylines will be well suited to this genre of soap.

What I decided to choose

For my A level coursework, I had a choice to make either a soap trailer or a music video. After going through my options I have decided to make a soap trailer. This is because I believe that I can include many different types of narratives in a soap trailer rather than in a music video, and this would therefore be much more enjoyable to film and more interesting to edit.
I enjoy soaps and watch them in my spare time at home, therefore I already have a brief idea on how soaps are filmed and how they present this in their trailers.
For my ancillary products I will create a billboard poster and a front cover to help promote my soap trailer.
